When planning out your career, it is important to prioritize doing your research on openings, wages and degree requirements. For bachelor degree holders, recent studies show that management positions hold the most openings available, but airline pilots make the biggest salaries. Let us explore this further.
The top ten highest paying jobs available for a bachelor degree holding individual are listed below. As you can see, airline pilots can expect the largest median income of the group coming in at just around $140,340.
The second highest paying career is petroleum engineers. While the pay is good, it is still important to notice the lack of job openings in the field. The career has the second to fewest openings only behind physical scientists.
Once a career has been chosen, the job search has to start somewhere. The key to making lasting connections is prioritizing networking. Networking successfully is the biggest factor other than your education in landing that dream job, according to Andrew Young, a recent graduate of Middle Tennessee State University.
“Shake every hand that you meet. Make sure everyone remembers your name. Your business card should be in the hand of every person you come across, ” he says.
With such a competitive atmosphere in high paying jobs, it is necessary to build your name in your field by participating in multiple internships. This will not only help your networking, but it could lead to a career with the company you are interning for. Getting your foot in the door might not be too hard.
Grant Thompson, an upcoming graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, has used internships to create a wonderful networking profile. “Interning has made me more confident in my ability to get a job after graduation. I have built strong relationships in my field by simply showing my skills in the work place, ” he says.
